The Kamloops Dragon Boat Festival will be taking place alongside Ribfest again this year! Teams from across the province are coming to Kamloops to compete on the South Thompson River off the shores of Riverside Park beach. The racing is expected to start at 8:30 am and continue until 4:00 pm.
Dragon boating is a modern sport with ancient traditions that is both competitive and fun! Boat crews consist of 20 paddlers, a steersperson and a drummer. The divisions in the festival will be Women, including breast cancer survivor teams, Mixed (men/women), and 55+ (mixed).
Spectators, cheering squads, and looky-loos are all welcome to come down and support the teams as they paddle the 500 metre race course on our river!
One time per year, 6 city blocks in downtown Kamloops, BC are closed off to allow Street Rods, Customs, American Muscle, Sport-compact, Tuners, British, European, Asian, Collector, Vintage, Motorcycles, Race Competition vehicles and Big Rigs, to line the streets for the annual Hot Nite In The City Show-n-Shine!
